We are trying to identify areas of the state where a wildlife rehabilitation class is not currently available and where we can help build the local network. Basics of Wildlife Rehabilitation
Basics of Wildlife Rehabilitation: Prepare for entry level and intern positions in nature centers, wildlife centers and animal sanctuaries and meet the requirement for specific training needed to apply for the NC State Wildlife Rehabilitation permit. Students must be 16 years old to be eligible to attend. 48 hours. Fee: $60

Wildlife Rehab, Inc
Wildlife Rehab, Inc. conducts a training class at Forsyth Tech twice a year. The class meets once a week from 6-9 for 11 weeks. The next class meets on Thursdays and starts in the fall. Albemarle-Edenton/Chowan County
Basic Wildlife Rehabilitation Course at College of the Albemarle-Edenton/Chowan County. The goal of this class is to provide basic training to those who would like to become a licensed NC Wildlife Rehabilitator. WRNC Federal Permit Class
WRNC is offering a new course for wildlife rehabilitators. The course is designed for students who wish to obtain their federal permit. The sessions are comprehensive, covering all aspects of avian care. The December class will be held at the Wildlife Education Center on the NC State Centennial Campus. Fee: $30

Advanced Wildlife Rehabilitation
Prepare for advanced level intern positions and staff positions in nature centers, wildlife centers and animal sanctuaries and work toward the 100-hour requirement to apply for the Federal Migratory Bird Permit. Duck Rescue Network
OVERVIEW Duck Rescue Network is holding its first annual conference on August 17-19, 2007 in Charlotte, NC. Presentations will include a hazardous materials (oil spill) course on Friday and workshops on Saturday and Sunday covering such topics as bio-security, duck emergency care, nuisance bird situations, common waterfowl diseases and avian anatomy. LOCATION The conference will be held at beautiful Wing Haven Gardens and Bird Sanctuary http://www.winghavengardens.com/ in residential Charlotte, NC. Wing Haven has been a unique part of Charlotte since its creation in 1927 by Elizabeth and Edwin Clarkson. The gardens and bird sanctuary encompass three acres in the heart of a residential neighborhood. The grounds include formal gardens, brick walking paths, and wooded areas. Throughout the gardens, emphasis is on plantings for bird attraction and many pools, re-circulating fountains, and dripping bird baths delight visitors and birds alike. ATTENDEES Registration is limited to 50 people, so please register early. FEES Registration fee is $50 if paid before July 15 and $60 thereafter. Fee: $60

ARC
The Animal Rehabilitators of the Carolinas (ARC) is offering a class for new volunteers on September 29, 30 and October 5 in the south Charlotte area. ARC is a nonprofit group dedicated to the care and release of orphaned and injured wildlife in NC and SC within a 50-mile radius of Charlotte including Mecklenburg, Union, Gaston, Lincoln Cabarrus, and Stanly. To be a volunteer with ARC, no previous experience is necessary, but volunteers must be 18 years old or older and complete the training. The class includes 3 days of training, your manual, and your first year membership with ARC. Classes cover basic care and feeding of wildlife and species-specific information.
