 Wildlife Rehabilitators
of North Carolina invites rehabilitators and associated wildlife professionals
to attend its 5th annual symposium. The symposium will be held at the
North Carolina Zoo's Education Center in Asheboro. The dates for this
year's sessions are January 26-28, 2007. We invite you to participate
in this exciting event. We are bringing back some of the most popular sessions from past symposiums plus a selection of new sessions for
this symposium. Included are sessions on stress management, avian anatomy, and
radiographs. There are sessions planned on killdeer, chimney swifts, groundhogs, parasites affecting wildlife, the use of technology by rehabilitators, a permit roundtable and waterfowl rescue. Several different workshops are offered. Some have been offered before. Some for the first time. We are focusing on making them more hands on this year. Did you enjoy last years necropsy workshop but would like to do a necropsy yourself. This year you can. Learn how to perform a physical exam, repair turtle shells, bandage and treat wounds. Build a cage to take home
with you. Be sure to sign up for the workshops when you register. WRNC has developed a new class for wildlife rehabilitators. It is designed for those who wish to obtain their federal permits. The sessions are comprehensive covering all aspects of avian care. The class will be offered at the symposium for the first time. It is offered in two parts. The first half is on Friday afternoon from 2-6 and the second half is on Saturday morning from 8-12. There is a 3 hour session for those who wish to obtain their permit to rehabilitate fawns. Unsure if you would like to rehab fawns? This session is a great way to learn more. The session covers the state regulations for the fawn permit as well as feeding, husbandry and other topics on fawn care. The IceBreaker will be held Friday evening starting at 7pm. The banquet will
be held on Saturday evening. It will be catered again this year by Timothy's. Our annual general meeting
will be held after the banquet. We hope that you will join us in Asheboro. Check this website for
additional information as it becomes available. Don't miss out on the
opportunities that this symposium will provide for education, networking,
and fun! Pre-registration fee: $40 (includes 2007 membership)
